David Lidington has fought hard within government to present the case against HS2 and to bring his constituents’ concerns directly to the Prime Minister, Chancellor and Transport Ministers. He has worked closely with campaign groups and local councils, and with individuals such as Cheryl Gillan, who also represented constituencies along the route. Should he be re-elected in 2015, he has promised to continue to fight for improvements to the scheme for local people.
He successfully lobbied Ministers to endorse local initiatives such as Wendover’s Green Tunnel and the Stoke Mandeville bypass designed to mitigate the impact of HS2 and continues to press strenuously the case for much improved mitigation and compensation.
This page contains all of David’s consultation responses and links to key information about HS2. David also regularly posts letters he receives and sends to Transport Ministers and HS2 Ltd in the News section of his website which can be viewed here.
